Sketch 1.27 for Sketchy Thursday

Loved this week's Sketchy Thursday 1.27 sketch so found some cute photos from last summer and pulled out a load of green/yellow toned papers to have a play with.

Here is the Sketch template:

*Still wrapped up in LOVE*

I have just completed this sketch from Shimelle's latest SOTW using some recent photo's of my parents. They have been married for nearly 18 years, and are still beautifully happy.

This sketch was very different to my other LO's as it made me cover the entire page in large blocks of paper! I really like working from the middle outwards but this layout made me go all the way to the edge! Challenge!

Punched some Kraft butterflies and trailed them up the page. I'm really pleased with the cluster around the word love x cute

Another SOTW from Shimelle

Woop! It's time to share yet another sketch. This is Shimelle's sketch of the week, which you can find here.
I was sooooooo excited to see my sketch highlighted on her website this week, alongside some amazing pages! Thanks Shimelle!

So here is my take on this her sketch. We were able to show off some special paper! So i decided on this 'dear lizzy' sheet by American Crafts! Lush
I really wanted to draw a little something so sketched a few birds, then photographed it, forgetting to move my hand! But since my nails were looking nice for a change, thought I would leave it like that and it added some colour to an otherwise black and white picture.
Added some white stitching and some punched butterflies and stars to finish of the LO
I used a tutorial for making my own Studio Calico 'notion' which you can find here I'm really pleased with the way it turned out, so I will absolutely be trying this again, with maybe some patterned tissue paper or something!
Can't wait to see what everyone else does with the sketch x

Sketchy Thursday Febuary GDT Challenge

Today is the last day to enter the Feb guest design team challenge over on the Sketchy Thursday blog. So I had a go because I love the sketch and love Sketchy Thursdays!

I decided to use some of my new papers from Echo Park and some of my new grey Lullaby Thickers (read the end of this post)

Apart from the sketch, we also had to include these things:
• Use a heart
• Use red and/or pink
• And journaling somewhere on the page

I actually didn't realise that I had to use the red/pink until after I had selected the Kraft, teal, grey and yellow for my LO so had to add the red after, but actually think it looks good.
I never would have put those colours together myself. So another great reason, why I love challenge blogs so much!
This is the 12x12 LO Using pictures from last years holiday!
Look, I made another collage. I know you are all very proud of me! LOL

In other news, Look at my AMAZING Thicker bargain. Found these lovelies in TK Maxx for £5.99!!!!! And thats for a pack of four!! I may soon need a separate room for my Thicker collection!
And this.........My first lovely order from Sarah's Cards Including lots of Bazzill CS, tiny alpha stickers, beautiful patterned papers from Crate Paper, Bella BLVD and Echo Park (already I am a fan)
OH and there was a lollypop inside! Lush

I also bought some 12x12 AC page dividers (for portrait 4x6) for the Document 2011 project, but will be buying some landscape ones when they are back in stock.

Do you love challenge blogs too? and where are your favorite places to buy crafty goodies?

Creative Scrappers No:138

Morning all you creative ones! Just wanted to share this with you. Its my first ever go with a Creative Scrappers sketch challenge, and after choosing this LO design, I really love how its turned out, so will absolutely be trying another one soon!

So here is my Layout, using a Fiskars star punch to create a bigger star template and Bazzill Basics 'bling' cardstock (my new love).

Its has a more distressed vintage feel to it compared to my usual style, but I think I quite like it for a change.
And check this out! I have only gone and 'collaged' it up haven't I, cleaver old me!
Hasn't taken me years to figure out how easy it is to do or anything! lol

Please let me know what you think of my first CS sketch challenge! (and of my fab collage making skills lol!!)

Supplies: Cardstock; Bazzill Basics 'bling' in Blank Check, Patterned Paper; K&Co Letters; Making Memories, Cosmo Cricket, Words; Making Memories 'word fetti' Buttons, Lace, Tag; from stash

Colour Throwdown no:124

Here is this weeks colour combination from the Color Throwdown blog I am loving the bright pink colour, making me feel very summery!
I wanted to use my new American Crafts birdcage stamp, so gave it a try but now wished I had used a darker brown ink!
Added a bright pink ribbon to the side and used 3D foam to adhere the stamped image
Check out their blog for more colour combo's every wednesday x x x

Shimelle's Sketch of the Week

Hi all, just wanted to quickly post this LO which is based on this sketch over on Shimelle's blog. Her plan is to share a weekly sketch and for people to upload their interpretation! Love that!

So here is my entry. I found a really cute pic of my little one which was taken just after he was born (nearly 4 years ago!) I really haven't scraped many baby pictures of him, so thought it would be nice to reminisce a little.
What would a LO be without Thickers? just wouldn't be right for me anyway.
Should really have photographed this in the daylight ase you really can't see the colours properly, but hey ho!
Supplies: Cardstock; Bazzill Paper; K&co, My Minds Eye, Bo Bunny Letter Stickers; AC Thickers, Making Memories. Buttons, twine, Martha Stewart Butterfly punch, pearl accents

Pencil Lines 219

2 posts in 2 days? What a good start to the year! When I initially saw this weeks sketch challenge over at Pencil Lines I didn't really like the LO, but when I printed of this picture of Mum and me, I thought that it could actually work on the sketch, so I gave it a go.
I really haven't photographed this very well, but these are quite unusual colours for me and its probably the first time for ages that I haven't used Kraft on the page. I may have soon have withdrawal symptoms!
Made another little embellishment like the one on my JYC cover which you can see here using old text and my trusty Martha Stewart butterfly punch.
I am loving how the JYC class has really given me confidence to write more on my pages, rather than just adding a title and subtitle! Hooray, and I don't even mind that my journaling isn't neat and straight, which I always thought it should be.
Cardstock: Bazill. Paper: American Crafts, DCWV. Letter Stickers: American Crafts, Making memories. Buttons:American Crafts. Word stickers: Making Memories. Glittered Shapes: Fieldhouse by American Crafts. Twine: Divine bakers twine from The Ribbon Girl

Sketchy Thursday 1.6

Hi fellow bloggers, just wanted to share my take on this weeks sketchy thursday sketch challenge blog. As soon as I saw it I knew exactly which photo's to use, which doesn't usually happen. When I played around with the layout, I decided to move the title to the bottom to balance it out a bit. Think it works better there than on the side.

Made the bunting from some paper scraps and then added faux stitching across the top.
I can always make a space to use my Martha Stewart butterfly punch x
Obviously I couldn't leave my glitter Thickers in my draw for this page, so chose a teal and large brown foam ones!
Supplies: Cardstock: Bazill. Paper: My minds eye, October Afternoon, Bo Bunny. Letter Stickers: American Crafts, Making memories. Buttons: American Crafts. Journaling tag: October Afternoon

JYC 2010 The end!

Day 31 - New Years Eve. Well I kept my page quite minimal as I thought that might reflect the way I spent my NYE! Kept it low key by having a little family shindig at my parents with yummy Chilli and Champers! Lush. I'm not too keen on NYE so it suited me perfectly!
Day 32(1st Jan) - New Years Day/Resolutions. Now my theory with resolutions is that the less you make, the less you break, Right? so my list starts with 'laugh more', which surely can't be that difficult for me.
I took Taye to a local riverside park, with my parents so that he could ride his new bike. At the end of the walk, we realised that the mini steam train was running so we hopped aboard and were completely smothered with the smoke! How the driver could see what he was doing is beyond me!

I know that the class continues until the 6th Jan, but I really can't fit any more inside so thought I would stop on the 1st.
Now I know that I said that this year I would finish my cover first but however I wanted to wait till I had completley finished inside. So here it is, full of glittery Thickers and puffy Making Memories letters. I bought the ribbon from the ribbon girl which I think looks so cute, and serves a purpose of actually stopping the book from exploding.
Didn't realise that I had used the same reindeer paper as my journal last year until afterwards!
Thanks for looking. You can see my complete album as a slideshow on the side of my blog or view it here
I will be starting a new class by Big Picture Classes soon, so come back to see how I am getting on.

Happy New 2011! JYC catch up, part 2

Well a very happy new year to you all! Have you made any resolutions yet? I have only a few this year, as that way there will be less to break!

Day 27- Sleeping in! I think I stayed in bed till about 10.30! and then have bacon sandwiches thanks to Mum. We had a family party to go to in the afternoon, where we played some games and had lovely food! On the way home we drove past a row of houses that, every year make a big effort with their Xmas lights. One house had 2 snow machines outside.
Day 28- Indulgences! These came to me so quickly, involving anything chocolate based! I also have a real weakness for Christmas pudding! For some unknown reason, Mum only bought a small one this year so I was unfortunately on Christmas pudding rations! Not very fair! We always have ours with brandy butter, custard or cream! Yum!!
Day 29- Catch up day. I decided to use these pages to journal about my fav gift I received this Christmas. A BRIGHT PINK sewing machine!, from John Lewis! Love it so much. Santa originally bought me a bright green one but decided to swap it for this one. Much more my colour you see!
Day 30 - Year in review. I had a lot of memories with this prompt, but also did some serious editing because I didn't want to use loads of photos, so just selected a few.
